Two billion peasants and other people working in rural areas around the world claim their rights to continue to feed their families and communities. To this end, they initiate an adoption of the Declaration o Peasants’ Rights and Other People Working in Rural Areas by the United Nations. Adoption of this document will be a solid international legal basis to promote the development of sustainable food systems throughout the planet, make the world safer, and also draw attention to such issues as discrimination against peasants and people engaged in small-scale production of agricultural products and food throughout the world.
